The exhibits include a Qur’an manuscript from 1844 by the calligrapher Sharifa Waheeda Yaqouta, and a page about 1.7 meters high from the “Bey Sanqur” Qur’an, which is considered the largest among the Qur’ans in the Middle Ages, and dates back to 1400.
The exhibition also witnesses the organization of a number of educational activities that enhance the role of museums as educational hub , and includes a series of family workshops that will continue throughout the duration of the exhibition.
The opening of the exhibition was attended by Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority, His Excellency Zaki Nusseibeh, Cultural Adviser to His Highness the President of the State, His Excellency Abdul Rahman bin Muhammad Al Owais, Minister of Health and Community Protection, and a number of senior officials and heads of departments Government officials and representatives of diplomatic missions to the country, Hamid Jaafar, founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Hilal Group, and Manal Ataya, Director General of the Sharjah Museums Authority.
