‘Sharjah Finance Award’ inaugurates series of workshops in Amman

Sharjah 24: Under the patronage of President of the Civil Service Bureau Sameh Al-Nasser in Jordan, the first workshops and introductory seminars for the second edition of the Sharjah Award for Public Finance (SAPF), held recently in the Jordanian Capital, Amman, by the Arab Organisation for Administrative Development, in cooperation with the Sharjah Finance Department in Sharjah.
The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Nasser Al-Hatlan Al-Qahtani, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Award, Director General of the Arab Organisation for Administrative Development; Sheikh Rashid bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Secretary General of the Award;  Hassan Pasha, member of the Board of Trustees of the Award, and a group of representatives of government agencies concerned with finance, quality management and excellence, while a series of other workshops were held on Tuesday and Wednesday.

In this context, Salem Yousef Al Qaseer, Chairman of the Award’s Board of Trustees, said that a series of seminars and introductory workshops for the award will be held in a number of Arab countries during October, November and December of this year, with the aim of introducing the objectives and importance of this award, after increasing its institutional and individual categories to 17, including 9 institutional and 8 individual, with the expansion of the list of targeted candidates from Arab countries and institutions, as well as the development of the award guide, including its technical and organisational standards and criteria, to be more compatible with the current financial and economic changes and challenges.

Secretary-General of the award, Sheikh Rashid bin Saqr Al Qasimi, said that this award is the first of its kind in the Arab world, and aims to enable the financial sector to be a successful and sustainable lever for development in the Arab countries through continuous measurement and evaluation of commitment to standards of excellence related to the financial sector at the level of government institutions in Arab countries as well as enriching the level of competition among them in order to reach the optimal level of performance and successful financial management practices and experiences in this field, noting that the award represents a qualitative addition and embodies the directives of the Government of Sharjah under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on the importance of adopting initiatives aimed at developing capabilities of institutions and individuals and qualifying them to play a vital and pivotal role in supporting the economy and investing money to serve people and sustain a decent life for them.

It is worth noting that the nomination period for participation in the award continues until the end of January of next year, by submitting participation files and filling out nomination forms through the award website https://spfa.ae. Specialised committees will conduct the evaluation of the participation files during February and March 2023, in preparation for the approval of the final results by the award’s board of trustees in April of the same year. A ceremony for honouring the winners will be held  in early May 2023.
