Trainer Mohammed Al Kindi, from the Oman Film Society, led a ‘Post Production’ workshop that taught aspiring young filmmakers the basics and initial steps of film production, including the art of ideation to generate a story and convert it into a scenario with dramatic elements.
Young participants were also instructed on strategies to select the right producer and director and factor in the budget to produce the film.
The workshop also focused on cinematic production processes such as selecting technicians and actors and identifying filming locations and creating montage. The session highlighted the importance of the final production processes in creating a quality product that can be marketed to broadcast networks, cinemas and theatres.
In the second workshop, ‘Drawing Manga and Anime Characters’, led by trainer Ali Ghareb, young children were taught the basics of drawing authentic Japanese Manga and Anime character stylisation. Young participants were also educated on the basic differences between the two artistic styles.
The workshop sought to unleash the creativity of young artists and equip them with the basics to adapt scenes from their daily lives and transform them into Animation or Managa, as an initiation into the genre.
The trainer pointed out that the technical workshops at SIFF attract young talents and enthusiasts keen on honing their skills and talents and exploring the rich and diverse art forms.
SIFF 2022, has a vibrant cultural agenda comprising 95 films from 43 countries and features 34 workshops and eight insightful talks with a host of directors, filmmakers as well as international trainers and artists.
