Sharjah24: The Women's Protection Center, affiliated to Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD) , receives battered women or who are victims of social, economic or psychological problems. The case management department in the center is one of the vital departments, which seeks to help wives obtaining their rights, solving their problems and protecting them from any harm that may occur them.
Building on this, Maryam Ismail, director of the Women’s Protection Center, affirmed that the Center is not only providing shelter and empowerment services, but also working on various aspects, including case management and family relationship regulation. The Center provides 3 specialists: social, psychological and legal, who handle cases or transferred to the family court in Sharjah.
Maryam Ismail emphasised that there are cases in which conciliation is made between the two parties from the first session, while there are cases that may last for weeks and months, and each case has different procedures, depending on the different causes, whether material, such as not spending or refraining from giving the wife a monthly allowance.
Maryam adds: The cases we received are very few this year, and currently there are not many problems, and the cases are from different nationalities. She added, " Based on deep experience in this field, it is correct to say that most of the cases the woman is right, as we discovered that most of the problems are caused by the husband, his neglect of his family and his preoccupation with it, and secondly, the lack of spending on his wife or his children.
