This came as Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed chaired the meeting of the council, Thursday morning, at the Sharjah Safari Park.
The meeting discussed many topics related to the media sector, following up on the performance of media agencies in achieving the strategic goals set by the Council, and the most prominent initiatives being implemented in coordination among all media agencies.
During its meeting, the council was briefed on the developments of the documentary project "Sharjah Safari", which is produced by the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority in cooperation with the Sharjah Government Media Bureau. In a number of episodes, the documentary programme deals with the establishment of the Sharjah Safari from the idea to its implementation with the best facilities and services and its housing of various animals in a distinguished location to provide the animals with the appropriate conditions for coexistence.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, toured the Sharjah safari and familiarised himself with its natural habitat. The Sharjah safari extends over an area of eight thousand hectares, and is located within the Al Bardi Reserve in Al Dhaid, which sits on an area of 16 square kilometres and includes 12 natural habitats.
Touring the project, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed watched the various animals included in the safari and the natural components that are available there to create a natural and ideal environment for animals, services and facilities that make it easier for visitors to enjoy the safari.
The tour included inspection of the latest animals that were added to the safari, including the lemur that lives in the environment of the spiny forest and is one of the most important animals that inhabit the island of Madagascar.
Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi was accompanied by Saif Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Environment and Natural Reserves Authority; Dr. Khaled Omar Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Media City "Shams"; Mohammed Hassan Khalaf, Director General of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority; Tariq Saeed Allay, Director General of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB); Rashid Abdullah Al Obad, Director of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority; Shehab Ahmed Al Hammadi, Director of Sharjah Media City "Shams", Alia Al Suwaidi, Director of SGMB; Hassan Yaqoub Al Mansouri, Secretary General of the Sharjah Media Council; and Hessa Al Hammadi, Assistant Secretary General of the Sharjah Media Council.
