Sharjah 24: Speaking on Sharjah Architecture Triennial (SAT) 2023, the curator of its second edition, Tosin Oshinowo, revealed her excitement on holding the upcoming event on November next year, themed “The Beauty of Impermanence: An Architecture of Adaptability.”
In statements to “Sharjah 24”, she highlighted that the event will showcase work from artists, architects, designers and planners from around the world in the Emirate of Sharjah.
She maintained that the event will include urban intervention installations and exhibition work in Sharjah, hoping that a number of the exhibits will be permanent or semi-permanent features within the Emirate, stressing that the some of the work held in the event fall under community engagement.
She added that she is looking forward to displaying, through the theme of the second edition, existing century-old technology that weren't celebrated as they should, hoping that the exhibition will show another way for dealing with climate change and sustainability, and looking at architecture that adapts with these issues rather than working against them.
She concluded her statement by underlining the issues of dealing with waste and waste reuse, which are exhibited in the event through the implementation of innovative ways when using materials and architecture, and showing practitioners who are doing interesting work in this field.
