Sharjah 24: As part of Sharjah 24's "Your Summer in Sharjah" series, Mona Al Hadidi, who is in charge of the Islamic Garden of the Environment and Protected Areas Authority, explained that the garden is the first of its kind in the world and that the plants it contains are all mentioned in the Holy Quran and Sunnah, except for Zaqqum and Nitraria.
Al Hadidi said that the garden has embraced the vision of His Highness. Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, honoured Sharjah’s status as a centre of Islamic culture and inaugurated the garden in 2014.
It was noted by Al-Hadidi that the garden hosts several cultural and educational events, workshops, and programmes for individuals of all ages and that it is open every day except Tuesday to the public.
