Sharjah 24: sixty-eight male and female members of the Arab Parliament for the Child (APC) from seventeen Arab countries were briefed on the planetarium and the system of celestial bodies, during their visit, on Friday afternoon, to the facilities and laboratories of the Sharjah Academy For Astronomy, Space Sciences and Technology (SAASST) of the University of Sharjah at its headquarters in the University City.
The visit, which constitutes one of the important APC’s programmes for children participating in the APC’s fourth session, aims to introduce  children to the important sciences, including astronomy, and what the Emirate of Sharjah seeks to achieve through the establishment of the SAASST.

The APC delegation was briefed about the role of the SAASST and its aim of developing and generalising astronomical and space science and culture in the Arab world in general and in the UAE in particular, to be a scientific, research, heritage, educational and tourism centre for various age groups, including school and university students, researchers and families.

After that, the children toured the academy's several facilities that simulate the sciences of astronomy and the universe, and listened to an overview of its academic achievements and the sciences and knowledge it provides before they listened to an illustrated material that was shown in the planetarium equipped with the latest technologies about the origin and evolution of the universe through Quranic verses following their tour of  the universe exhibition.

Then, the children watched the documentary film titled ‘Religion of Value’, which reflects the Arab-Islamic heritage and presents the chronology of the universe from the moment of the Big Bang until the end of the universe.
