Sharjah24 – Reuters: McDonald’s has increased the price of its cheeseburger in the UK for the first time in over 14 years due to growing costs. In the UK, Mcdonald's confirmed that the price of cheeseburgers would be increasing by 10p from 99p to £1.19.
Meanwhile, the company has also confirmed that the price of a cheeseburger in Ireland will increase from €1.50 to €1.70. The fast food chain said its restaurants would be adding between 10p and 20p to several items on its menu.
McDonald's UK and Ireland chief executive Alistair Macrow said the company had delayed the changes for as long as possible. "We understand that any price increases are not good news, but we have delayed and minimized these changes for as long as we could," Alistair Macrow, McDonald's UK & Ireland Chief Executive Officer.
Other items that are increasing in price include breakfast meals, large coffees and McNugget share boxes.
