Sharjah24: The Sharjah Government Staff Chess Championship in its tenth edition was concluded on Wednesdays, which was organized by the Sharjah Government Employees Club in cooperation with the Sharjah Chess Cultural Club and under the supervision of the Sharjah Sports Council.
With the participation of 47 players from 27 government authorities and institutions in Sharjah including the General Department of Civil Defense, Sharjah Municipality, Sharjah Cooperative Society, Department of Planning and Survey, Sharjah Heritage Institute, Sharjah Educational District , Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority, Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority, Bee’ah, Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, Emirates Red Crescent, Sharjah Museums Authority, Sharjah Airport Authority, Holy Quran Academy, Sharjah Awqaf Department, Department of Culture, Sharjah Islamic Bank, Dibba Al-Hisn Cultural Sports Club, Sharjah Health Authority, Sharjah Chess and Culture Club for Girls, Sharjah Police, Al Qasimia University, Sharjah Media City, Sharjah Health Authority, Sharjah Social Services Department, the Central Finance Department and Al Qassimi Hospital in Sharjah.
The closing ceremony was attended by His Excellency Sheikh Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Mualla, President of the Arab Federation and Chairman of the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club, His Excellency Dr. Tariq Sultan bin Khadim, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Sharjah Government Employees Club, His Excellency Hamid Ali Al Abbar, Vice President of the Sharjah Government Employees Club, and His Excellency Jamal Issa Al Midfa, Secretary General of the Sharjah Government Employees Club Sharjah Cultural Chess.
The results of the tournament were announced as following: The player Rashid Jibril from Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority took pride of place by winning first place , Othman Ibrahim Salem from the Sharjah Radio and Television Authority, who achieved second place, Abdul Aziz Al Yafei of the Sharjah Police General Headquarters won the third place.
The tournament's organizing committee also awarded a prize for the best player in the tournament, and it went to Alia Gharib, player of the Chess and Culture Club for Girls.
Dr. Tariq Sultan bin Khadim, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Sharjah Government Employees Club, affirmed that these activities stem from the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, which aim to create a new recreation environment for employees to reduce work pressures and provide an opportunity for employees to engage in sporting activities
