Sharjah24: The Cultural and Media Office of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah organised a symposium "Folk Art, Word and Melody" presented by Dr. Saeed Al Haddad, Director of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage (SIH) - Kalba, and Prof. Abdullah Al Yammahi, a researcher in folklore.
Held at Sheikh Saeed House in Kalba, in cooperation SIH, the media office aims to activate the role of the cultural salon in the eastern region, and enhance its position in raising and highlighting various cultural issues of interest to society.

Abdullah Al Yammahi spoke about the art of "Tarayiq", its types, and styles.

He stressed that there are no poets interested in this type of poetry from the new generation due to its difficulty. He added that there must be radical solutions to protect this distinctive poetic art.

Dr. Saeed Al Haddad sheded light on the "tone" by citing the art of "Ayala" and the art of "Ahla", highlighting their upbringing, and their difference from the rest of the well-known arts.

He also stressed the declining interest of the new generation of young people in this art, and that we must make a lot of efforts to preserve it.
