Sharjah 24: His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, President of the American University of Sharjah (AUS), chaired Sunday morning the meeting of the University’s Board of Trustees at the university's headquarters.
Welcoming the attendees, His Highness praised the BOT’s efforts in taking care of all the affairs of the university, its academic programmes and its development in various scientific and administrative fields, and the international levels that the university has reached as one of the distinguished and pioneering educational institutions in the region.

During the meeting, His Highness the President of the American University of Sharjah was briefed on a number of the university's achievements in various fields, before he approved a number of decisions that support the progress and development of the university and meet all its needs.

The BOT approved the implementation of the new intellectual property policy at the university, updating some administrative policies, in addition to granting the title of "Honourary Professor" to faculty members Dr. Yas Al Khafaji and Dr. Basil Hatem.

The formation of the Silver Jubilee Committee of the American University of Sharjah was also approved by the Board of Trustees.

During the meeting, His Highness listened to a number of reports on the academic performance of the university during the past period and the work of the various committees, in addition to the future administrative and scientific plans that the university will work on during the coming period, to contribute to achieving the goals set to advance all pillars of the educational process and the development of administrative performance.

During a presentation on academic and research affairs at the university, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah learned about the ongoing efforts to develop a number of academic programmes and specialised facilities, follow-up reports on student levels in all grades and faculties, as well as encouraging and promotind scientific research for faculty members and students in the university’s various fields and specialisations, to consolidate its position as a distinguished international research centre.

The members of the Board of Trustees expressed their appreciation and gratitude to the Sharjah National Oil Corporation for its valuable contributions to the scholarship fund, and to the Easa Saleh Al Gurg Charity Foundation for its initiative to increase the number of scholarships for university students.
