Sharjah Ruler inaugurates 31st edition of Sharjah Theater Days

Sharjah24: His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, inaugurated the 31st session of Sharjah Theatrical Days, organised by the Department of Culture, Thursday evening, at the Culture Palace, after a hiatus due to the pandemic.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, attended the opening ceremony.
His Highness affirmed that all aspects of culture, including theatre, arts, poetry, stories, literature, constitutes a reliable tool to protect societies and achieve reassurance from all kinds of challenges they might face that target their unity, identity, morals, and religion.
His Highness expressed a great joy for the return of  Sharjah Theater Days in 2022 after a hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic.  His Highness invited all those interested in the world of theater to attend and participate in the event where there is no place for hatred or conflict.
His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah honored the winner of the Sharjah Prize for Arab Theatrical Creativity in its 15th session, which was the Kuwaiti actor Jassem Al Nabhan, and also honored the Emirati actor Bilal Abdullah as an honored local figure, showing appreciation of their contribution in the world of theatre and art.

His Highness, the Ruler of Sharjah, attended two biography shows, one of Jassim Al Nabhan, and one of Bilal Abdullah. The shows presented the two actors' various works and achievements.

Seven shows were nominated for the 31 edition awards, and four shows were picked to be performed on stage during the event.

The Sharjah Theater Days includes seminars given on daily basis with the participation of a number of senior critics, discussing theatrical performances, as well as dialogue sessions on several technical and intellectual issues related to Arab theater.

It will also host a symposium to discuss the challenges facing Arab women and their impact on theatre.

The "Intellectual Forum" accompanying Sharjah Theater Days will be launched over two days, on March 19. Several actors, researchers, and playwrights from the Arab World will be participating in the forum.

The opening of the 31st edition of Sharjah Theater Days was attended by Sheikh Khalid bin Essam Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Civil Aviation, Sheikh Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Ruler's Office, along with several senior officials, heads of government departments, and a group of artists and intellectuals.
