Sharjah 24: On Saturday, March 19, 2022, the Sharjah Sports Council (SSC) held an open race in University City with the participation of 300 male and female athletes from various age groups and nationalities as part of its agenda for the current year, with widespread participation and remarkable success.
Yasser Omar Al-Doukhi, Director of the Sports and Community Events Department, and Khaled Mohamed, Head of the Events Planning and Execution Division at the Department, witnessed the conclusion of the race and the crowning of the champions.
As for women, Maryam Al-Awadi took first, Shema Al-Zahidi second, and Maryam Al-Suwaidi third in the Emirati women's category. Imran Aref took first place in the Emirati men's category, followed by Rahman Ahmed, while Mubarak Abdullah came third.
Men's 10-kilometre-race for athletes with disability category was won by Barrott, with Etwitt and Buthardt finished second and third consecutively.
Sharjah Sports Council Chairman, Issa Hilal Al-Hazami lauded the event's success and emphasized the importance of such events in promoting sports and encouraging people from all walks of life, regardless of age, to participate in sports and make it their way of life. The University City Administration, as well as various Sharjah-based municipal authorities, as well as Al-Thiqa Club for Disabled for sending some of their players to participate, were all thanked Al Hazimi.
