Mohamed bin Zayed receives President of South Sudan

Sharjah24 - WAM: His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Sunday received at Al Shati Palace, President Salva Kiir Mayardit of South Sudan, who is on a working visit to the UAE, during which he attended his country's National Day celebrations on Saturday at Expo 2020 Dubai.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed welcomed President Salva Kiir and discussed with him bilateral relations between the UAE and South Sudan and enhancing and expanding their horizons in various fields in the best interests of the two friendly countries. They also tackled several regional and global issues of mutual interest.

The meeting also touched on Expo 2020 Dubai and the importance of South Sudan's participation in this global event to highlight the country's vision for the future.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed expressed the hope that the peace agreement, signed in January, will help bring about peace, stability, unity and development to South Sudan. He reaffirmed the UAE's support for realising South Sudan people's aspirations for development and prosperity. This support emanates from the country's approach to support regional peace and cooperation.

President Salva Kiir thanked His Highness Sheikh Mohamed for the warm hospitality and expressed his country's appreciation to the UAE's continuous support of South Sudan's development and the assistance to contain the spread of COVID-19.

He also lauded the UAE's pioneering development drive and expressed his country's desire to further enhance ties in all fields.

The meeting was attended by H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Sheikh Mohamed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Special Affairs Advisor at the Ministry of Presidential Affairs; Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, and Ali bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Supreme National Security Council.
