Sharjah 24: In celebrating the Arabic Language Day (ALD), which is on December 18, Dr. Mohamed Safi Al Mosteghanemi, Secretary-General of Arabic Language Academy (ALA) in Sharjah, said: “The celebration of the Arabic language on its International Day represents an opportunity to emphasise its importance as an authentic component of the cultural and civilizational identity of the Arab nation, and an occasion to mobilise individual and institutional efforts at the local and international levels to protect the Arabic language as well as to advance its role in the path of human knowledge, especially as we in Sharjah enjoy unparalleled support in enhancing the status of the Arabic language and honouring the efforts of its pioneers and scholars by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah."
“The Arabic language is the language of the Holy Qur’an, and it is the language that its speakers presented to the world various sciences and achievements that form the basis of all the contemporary civilizational renaissance. It has remained the language of thought, science, literature, and knowledge for centuries, and we are proud of that. Our responsibility today is to move forward and renew the glory of the language with achievements that serve the present and the future of all humanity. On the other hand, the Arabs and all those who speak the Arabic language should strive for knowledge in various fields of science and technology,” He said.

Al Mosteghanemi added: "From a wise vision set by His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah for the Arabic language to rise, the ALA in Sharjah is working to achieve a series of goals to enhance the status of the Arabic language, most notably the completion of the project “The Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language”, which we celebrate the completion of 17 volumes of it this year, and to act as a link between scientific, research and administrative efforts in the various academies of the Arabic language, providing a great opportunity for non-Arabic speakers to learn the language, get a closer look at the Arab culture, and encourage new generations to use the language.”
