UAE champions win the Gulf Coastal Rowing Championship

Sharjah 24: The UAE champions were able to win the Gulf Coastal Rowing Championship, organised on Al Hamriyah Beach in the Emirate of Sharjah, whereas they won at the end of twenty-three competitions all the six gold medals.

The UAE players succeeded in demonstrating their abilities since the first round of the first edition of the Gulf championship, under the patronage of Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and organised by Sharjah Sports Council and Al Hamriyah Sports Club with partners from various governmental and private departments and authorities, in cooperation and coordination with the UAE Marine Sports Federation, the Gulf Marine Sports Federation and Al Hamriyah Municipality.

The tournament was organised by the Supreme Organising Committee to highlight the position of the UAE, and to harness all the capabilities and energies in Sharjah, being an important hub for sporting events.

The Supreme Organising Committee followed up all the procedures and provided the means of success for the performance of the participating teams, headed by Abdul Malik Jani, Vice Chairman of Sharjah Sports Council, Chairman of the Individual Games Committee, and assisted by Juma Obaid Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Al Hamriyah Cultural and Sports Club, Vice President and General Supervisor, in addition to the follow-up of the members of the Committee, Majid Saeed Al Muhairi, board member of Al Hamriya Club, director of the tournament, heads of medical and technical sub-committees, referees, public relations, media representatives, and the participating organisations.

At the end of the Gulf championship, the musical band of the Sharjah Police Academy played songs, and Sheikh Khalifa bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, President of the Arab and Gulf Rowing Federations, accompanied by Issa Hilal Al Hazami, and Abdul Malik Jani, crowned the winners and awarded them gold, silver, and bronze medals, and the first place trophy.
