Sharjah 24: On the sidelines of his trip to the Arab Republic of Egypt, to attend the Arab Club Basketball Championship, His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of Sharjah Sports Council, accepted the invitation of Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, the Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, to visit the sports city built in the New Administrative Capital.
His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami and his accompanying delegation were received by Brigadier General Sherif Sadiq, Deputy Director of the Sports City, and Dr. Wissam Al Ghamry, Executive Director.

His Excellency Al Hazami toured the city's facilities where all Olympic standards were taken into consideration.

The Chairman of Sharjah Sports Council praised the quality of the facilities and designs, and said that they are an architectural masterpiece that will qualify the New Administrative Capital to host and organise major tournaments and world championships in different games, especially since the transportation network and modern roads that have been built lead to the city, which confirms that the infrastructure is taken into account to meet all the needs of the future and aspirations.

It should be noted that the Sports City in the New Administrative Capital is built on an area of 93 acres, and includes four covered halls, including the main hall that hosted the World Handball Championship last January, four football fields, ten futsal courts, two squash and tennis complexes, and open playgrounds for volleyball, basketball, beach soccer and hockey, in addition to a complex of swimming pools, including a covered and an open Olympic pool. It also includes a martial arts hall, and another hall for sports for the physically disabled, a large social building, a theater and a hall for celebrations.
