Sharjah 24: Sharjah Charity International (SCI) launched a number of initiatives in 5 countries aimed at performing eye surgeries and distributing food parcels.
The initiative was in line of the implementation of the directives of  the head of the board of directors of SCI, Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed bin Khalid Al Qasimi; celebrating the International Day of Charity, which takes place on September 5 every year; and in line with the plan and objectives of the Association aiming at alleviating the suffering of many individuals and families in a number of countries due to poor living and health conditions.

Mohammed Hamdan Al Zari, Director of Sharjah Charity International's (SCI) Projects Department, stated that such initiatives reflect SCI keenness to celebrate this occasion and to uphold the values of charitable and humanitarian work, whereas SCI exert efforts to achieve the goals of SCI with the support of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, in addition to supporting the charity donors.

Al Zari pointed that the initiatives will be implemented in 5 countries, namely Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Sudan and Senegal, to reach the largest number of the needy, especially in light of the difficult conditions of individuals and families in these countries with the pandemic that harmed and affected their lives.

Al Zari explained that a campaign to perform eye surgeries to combat blindness, and conduct medical examinations, will be implemented in Bangladesh, Senegal and Sudan, benefiting more than 250 cases, in addition to distributing more than 250 food parcels in Sri Lanka and Cambodia.

Al Zari confirmed that such campaigns will continue throughout the year, and are highlighted during these occasions to educate and reassure donors and philanthropists that their money reached their beneficiaries.

Al Zari concluded that charitable campaigns and projects would not have seen the light without the support of the donors and benefactors who trusted SCI to deliver their donations.
