Sharjah24: With the commencement of the new academic year, the Health Education Department, (HED), of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah has stepped up its efforts targeted at promoting community health awareness, improving students' overall health, and supporting a safe return to school.
The department recently began a series of public awareness campaigns, including the circulation of films, educational pamphlets, and electronic educational brochures in Arabic and English through its social media platforms. In addition to broadcasting radio episodes on the most important preventive and precautionary measures to be followed and adhered to in the school environment, the department published a preventive guide against infectious diseases that explains how to adopt a healthy lifestyle and ways to follow healthy eating practices to enhance the body's immunity.
As part of the Sharjah Special Education Authority's back-to-school campaign "We Missed Our School," the administration continues to host virtual awareness workshops. The workshops are aimed at school students, parents, and administrative and teaching staff, and cover a variety of health topics, including how to promote students' mental health, the most basic principles of first aid and how to apply them in minor accidents, and the preventive measures that schools and parents must take.
According to Iman Rashid Saif, Director of (HED) at the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, the launch of these awareness initiatives is part of the administration's desire to support national efforts in creating a suitable healthy environment for school students and providing them with health care in light of Corona Virus (Covid-19) crisis, enhancing the principles and methods of promoting student public health in the implementation of the visions of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah's wife, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, Chairperson of Sharjah's Supreme Council for Family Affairs.
