Sharjah 24: The Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) Geology Park received 318 visitors during the Eid al-Adha holiday. The park is one of the most prominent eco-tourism projects, which introduces visitors to the geological importance of Jebel Buhais, which dates back millions of years.
Buhais geology park, is an affiliate of the Environment and Protected Areas Authority, and one of the eco-tourism projects. It is distinguished by its unique location that contains historical evidence of how the local nature was formed more than 93 million years ago.
Speaking exclusively to “Sharjah 24”, Bakhita Muhammad Al Ketbi, coordinator of the geology park, explained that His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah opened the park in 2019 with the aim of introducing the geological importance of Mount Buhais and the surrounding areas of Sharjah.
Al Ketbi stated that the park organises many educational programmes targeting all age groups, and given the current health conditions, EPAA was keen to conduct programmes through electronic platforms.
Al Ketbi added that the park had a remarkable turnout of visitors, as the number of visitors in 2020 reached 6,338, and 318 visitors during Eid al-Adha holiday.
