“When we stand by others, we indeed stand by ourselves; and when we extend our hand to the vulnerable groups and societies, we indeed extend the very hand to our societies, and guide them to a stable and prosperous future,” His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, said while witnessing the ceremony of the Sharjah International Award for Refugee Advocacy and Support, July 2021.
Addressing the guests and the winners from different world countries at the ceremony of the Sharjah International Award for Refugee Advocacy and Support, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah presented the vision of the smiling emirate and its humanitarian and developmental strategy, being a major contributor to supporting and advocating refugees, who have been exposed to loss of home and family, and providing every mainstay that establishes a stable life for the family, and perhaps the country itself, and those who were displaced in various parts of the world.

Sharjah was and still is a pioneer and forerunner in supporting and advocating these groups of people, believing in human cohesion, the values of compassion, solidarity, cooperation, relief of the anxious, and most importantly, drawing attention to their issues to propel more support, especially for children and mothers.

In this context, His Highness presents a new vision for all; a vision that is balanced and equal. “When we help others, we indeed help ourselves.” His Highness affirmed. This wise statement is aimed at entrenching the values of goodness and compassion in the society, this society that Sharjah nurtures, and from which it offers goodness to the whole world. “Sharjah works wholeheartedly to spread noble values among children to build and hone the personality of whoever lives in Sharjah and to set an example for others to partake in such a support. This participation and proper and sound upbringing are innate, and are based on supporting the human to his brother and offer all forms of cooperation so that the refugees and the needy overcome their problems, and wear back the smile on the faces of children,” His Highness expounded.

His Highness continued, “All other human societies are our brothers in humanity, and in accordance with the established values of Sharjah, helping other is indeed helping ourselves. This is the utmost of cooperation, appreciation and respect for the other. Here lies the greatness and significance of education and the right approach on which Sharjah builds its future and its people; it is the human element. The man who loves goodness for others around him, and thus we have worked to ensure a stable and prosperous future for our children and future generations, imbued with all the tolerant values derived from our true Islamic religion, and our great inherited traditions.”
