Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Sports Council (SSC) and the Special Olympics UAE will launch on January 6 the third phase of Competency Development Programme for Special Olympics coaches virtually via Zoom, in cooperation with Badminton World Federation and under the patronage of Special Olympics Middle East and North Africa (SO MENA).
The thirds phase of the programme focuses on rehabilitating the badminton coaches in accordance with the Badminton World Federation’s standards. The programme targets affiliates of sports clubs and centres as well as the educational authorities in the Emirate of Sharjah.
The programme’s workshops will be run by Jafar Ibrahim, specialist in badminton world coaching and development lead at Badminton World Federation.
The programme, which was launched on January 6, 2012, has been applied in 137 countries after its translation to several world languages including the Arabic Language.
In this context, Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, highlighted the significance of the programme for the persons with disability, underscoring the attention the SSC attaches to this category through cooperating in the organisation of such effective programmes, translating the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah and the follow-up of Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Sharjah Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler, and Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council (SEC).
