Sharjah24: His Excellency Dr Abdulaziz Al Musallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage and of the Board of Trustees of the Sharjah International Award for Cultural Heritage (SIACH), has described the award as the world’s only specialised award dedicated to cultural heritage.

Speaking to Sharjah24, Al Musallam said the award’s global significance reflects its focus on local, Arab and international heritages.

Diverse cultural heritage categories

Al Musallam explained that, in its sixth edition, the award covers several categories, including best practices in safeguarding an element of cultural heritage, best research and studies in cultural heritage, the best heritage campaign under the “Living Human Treasures” category, and Cultural Heritage Personality of the Year.

He said the diversity of its categories enhances the award’s credibility and recognition and allows it to honour a broad range of contributions to cultural heritage at the local, Arab and international levels.

A platform for cultural exchange

Al Musallam noted that the award has received a large number of submissions and nominations, which he said demonstrates its importance and the distinctive cultural contribution it makes.

He added that the award has become a landmark among specialised awards and serves as a bridge for civilisational communication and cultural exchange.
