Real Betis overturned a 2-1 deficit against ten-man Lille to win 3-2 in the first round of the Champions League group stage.
Lille took the lead twice through Japanese player Ayase Ueda (12) and Brazilian Alexsandro (36), after Marc Bartra had pulled one back for Betis (33).
However, Bartra equalised again in the second half (49) before Irishman Troy Parrott added a third for the Spanish side (53).
Lille finished the match with ten men after Ethan Mbappé, the younger brother of French national team captain and Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé, was sent off (56).
This was the first official meeting between the two teams since Betis' return to the Champions League after their last appearance in the 2005-2006 season, when they were eliminated in the group stage.
It also marked Lille's return to the Champions League after participating in the Europa League last season, where they were knocked out in the round of 16 by eventual champions Aston Villa.
This was the French side's first defeat of the season, following two wins and a draw in the league, while Betis secured their fourth victory in five matches across all competitions.
