The immersive programme combined stargazing, exploration and technology, introducing participants to a range of concepts in astronomy, cosmology and space engineering while linking classroom knowledge with hands-on activities designed to strengthen observation, scientific thinking, discovery and innovation skills.
The camp featured a series of scientific workshops and practical activities. Participants explored the Sun, the properties of light, and safe solar observation techniques, while also learning about galaxies, the evolution and expansion of the universe, and space science and engineering.
As part of the hands-on programme, participants designed a model satellite for observation and remote sensing. The activity introduced them to satellite applications and their scientific and technological importance, while providing practical experience that reinforced the concepts covered throughout the camp.
Fatima Mohammed Al Khatri, Director of the Sharjah Planetarium, said the camp offered an integrated educational experience, enabling participants to learn and explore in an interactive scientific environment.
She highlighted the importance of such programmes in diversifying learning methods, broadening young people’s horizons and providing opportunities to discover their scientific interests and strengths. Such initiatives, she added, help nurture enthusiasm for space and astronomy while encouraging young people to explore science, technology, innovation and emerging fields.
The camp concluded with a special presentation at the Sharjah Planetarium titled “A 360-Degree Journey into Space Exploration”. Participants embarked on an immersive journey through the universe, exploring various aspects of space exploration and learning about the UAE’s achievements in the field.
The event concluded with the presentation of certificates to participants in recognition of their participation in the camp’s activities.
