Sharjah24: Professor Esameldin Agamy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah (UOS), welcomed new students for the 2026–2027 academic year, emphasising that university life marks the start of a comprehensive journey to develop students’ personalities, capabilities and talents.

The university launched its Open Week activities and orientation sessions for new students and their parents, themed “Integrated Services … All in One Place.”

Organised by the Deanship of Student Affairs, the week-long programme offers new students the opportunity to explore the university’s facilities and services while strengthening engagement with parents, who are key partners in their children’s academic journey.

Professor Agamy highlighted UOS’ diverse academic, research and cultural environment, which brings together students and faculty from different nationalities and backgrounds and promotes the values of respect, tolerance, cooperation and responsibility.

He also highlighted the university’s comprehensive support system, including distinguished academic programmes and advanced laboratories and research centres, such as the Artificial Intelligence Applications Center, the Robotics Center and the Innovation Center.

Professor Agamy encouraged students to attend lectures, participate actively in curricular and extracurricular activities, and make the most of the expertise of faculty members and academic advisers. He stressed that academic success begins on the first day and requires clear goals, effective time management, and commitment.

Dr Amina Almarzooqi, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, said the Deanship of Student Affairs has prepared an integrated programme to support new students, including academic guidance, psychological and health support, and university housing services.

She encouraged students to participate in student clubs and extracurricular activities to develop their personalities and strengthen their leadership and teamwork skills.

Open Week also features tours of classrooms, libraries, central laboratories, sports complexes and student centres, along with meetings with representatives from university departments.

The programme includes presentations highlighting the success stories of distinguished graduates, alongside competitions and interactive activities for students and their parents.
