Sharjah 24 – AFP: US President Donald Trump said Tuesday that there are currently no talks with Iran and none are scheduled, while reaffirming that the US naval blockade of Iranian ports remains in effect.

“There are no talks or conversations going on, or scheduled, with the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Naval Blockade remains in full force and effect,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

He also said the Strait of Hormuz is open and operating, claiming that all sea mines had either been removed or detonated.

Earlier Tuesday, Trump posted a map on Truth Social labeling the Strait of Hormuz as “NEW US Territory,” renewing his suggestion that the United States could seek sovereignty over the strategic waterway.

Iran has effectively closed the key maritime chokepoint, through which about a fifth of global oil supplies pass, in response to the war launched by Trump and Israel in late February.

Trump again raised the idea on Monday while speaking to reporters at the White House, saying he believed it would be a good move.
