Her Excellency Hiba Obaid Al Shehhi stated that the programme aims to introduce students to the importance of marine sciences and their role in protecting the marine environment, and to inspire them to explore the field, thereby supporting the development of a generation capable of contributing to environmental sustainability.
Speaking exclusively to Sharjah24, Al Shehhi added that the programme, which runs until August 6, includes a series of workshops and scientific and practical activities. These cover topics such as marine water quality, the study of marine microorganisms, aquaculture, and innovation in marine sciences, as well as field activities that help develop students' skills and strengthen their connection to the marine environment.
The first day featured an introductory tour of SMSRC, interactive sessions on the importance of oceans and the impact of human activities on marine life, and an introduction to coral reef restoration efforts and the importance of their conservation.
