Sharjah 24 – AFP: “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” the latest Sony and Marvel collaboration starring Tom Holland as the flagship superhero, pulled in an estimated $355 million during its North American debut, securing the second-largest domestic box office opening in history right behind “Avengers: Endgame”.

Strong global performance

Co-starring Zendaya, Mark Ruffalo, Florence Pugh, and Sadie Sink, the blockbuster hauled an additional $572 million internationally, driving its massive worldwide debut to roughly $927 million. Market analysts highlighted the explosive opening as a massive catalyst for theaters, capitalising on intense consumer demand following a relatively subdued summer stretch.

The Odyssey holds second place

Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” dropped to second place domestically with $51 million, lifting its total domestic earnings close to the $400 million threshold.

Rounding out the top tier, Disney-Pixar’s “Toy Story 5” captured third place with $6.3 million, Universal’s “Minions & Monsters” followed in fourth with $5.8 million, and Disney’s live-action “Moana” remake secured fifth with $5.3 million.
