Sharjah 24: UAE riders Abdullah Mohammed Al Marri and Hamid Abdullah Al Muhairi achieved a new milestone for Emirati equestrian sport by winning silver and bronze medals, respectively, at the prestigious Hickstead International Show Jumping Championship in the United Kingdom, held from 18 to 21 June.

Representing Al Shira'a Stables, the riders competed in a series of high-level events, including the renowned Hickstead Derby and internationally ranked competitions featuring elite riders competing for ranking points and major prizes. Their participation forms part of preparations for the 2026 FEI World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany.

Al Marri secured the silver medal in the Masters Championship aboard “BBS Gregor” in the two-round 1.50m competition. Al Muhairi claimed bronze with “Funchste V de Heffink,” while Al Marri also finished seventh riding “Kayan.” In addition, rider Mabkhout Awad Al Karbi won silver in the Dawni Grand Prix with the mare “Casal Sheena.”

Young Horses Deliver Strong Results for Al Shira'a Stables

Al Shira'a’s young horses also produced impressive performances. “Earl,” ridden by Hamid Al Muhairi, won the qualifying round for seven-year-old horses over 1.40m obstacles and later finished seventh in the final.

Meanwhile, “Filon,” also ridden by Al Muhairi, claimed silver in the six-year-old category over 1.30m obstacles. “SS Queen Lane,” bred by Al Shira'a Stables and ridden by Omar Abdul Aziz Al Marzouqi, secured a top-10 finish in the final round for five-year-old horses over 1.20m obstacles.

The results underline the strength of the UAE’s show jumping programme and its continued success on the international stage.
