Sharjah 24 – BNA: Ambassador Nasser Al Hayen, Permanent Representative of the State of Kuwait to the United Nations and other international organisations in Geneva, said that repeated Iranian attacks targeting Kuwait constitute a flagrant violation of the country’s sovereignty and a clear breach of international law and legitimacy resolutions. He renewed Kuwait’s strong condemnation of the attacks and reaffirmed its inherent right to self-defence in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter.

According to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Ambassador Al Hayen made the remarks during Kuwait’s address to the 114th Session of the International Labour Conference.

Kuwait condemns repeated attacks and cites sovereignty violations

Ambassador Al Hayen stated that Kuwait has been subjected to repeated and systematic Iranian attacks since the beginning of the year, with the latest occurring early on Wednesday. He stressed that the attacks, alongside the escalating crisis in the Strait of Hormuz, threaten the lives of millions of civilians and workers in the region and beyond, and undermine economic development efforts.

International resolutions highlight scale of crisis

He noted that resolutions adopted by international organisations, including UN Security Council Resolution 2817 of 2026, a Human Rights Council resolution, and resolutions adopted by the International Telecommunication Union and the World Health Assembly, demonstrate the scale of the crisis and its repercussions on civilian and vital infrastructure.

Call for international action and accountability

Ambassador Al Hayen called on the international community and the Security Council to assume their legal and humanitarian responsibilities to halt the attacks and protect rights and stability.
