Sharjah 24 – WAM: Dubai Police have dismantled an eight-member gang, including a woman, that stole luxury oud worth AED12 million from a merchant using an elaborate deception involving a fake princess and a staged VIP reception. Four suspects were arrested and the stolen oud was recovered within 12 hours, while Red Notices were issued for the remaining suspects.

Elaborate royal ruse used to deceive merchant

The gang lured the trader by claiming a princess was arriving in Dubai to purchase high-end oud, arranging a fake meeting at a villa fitted with security, luxury hospitality, and a staged royal-style reception. During the meeting, the merchant was persuaded to transfer his goods into provided bags, which were later swapped with ordinary wood after the suspects delayed finalising the transaction.

Swift Police operation leads to arrests and recovery

Following a report to the Command and Control Centre, Dubai Police formed a specialised task force that used advanced technology and surveillance systems to track the suspects. The stolen oud was recovered from an apartment before it could be disposed of, while the remaining suspects fled the country, including the woman who impersonated the princess.
