Sharjah 24: As part of its celebrated Guest of Honour programme at the Warsaw International Book Fair, Sharjah’s pavilion hosted a captivating poetry evening titled “Echoes.” The special literary event brought together prominent poets from both the UAE and Poland to foster deeper cultural exchange and shine a spotlight on Arabic poetry for a European audience.

The evening featured readings from celebrated Emirati poets Dr Abdul Hakim Al-Zubaidi and Dhaen Shaheen, who shared the stage with distinguished Polish poet Jacek Posciadło.

Attended by an audience of international writers, publishers, and literature enthusiasts, the session was thoughtfully structured as a creative dialogue bridging Arabic and Polish poetic traditions. The featured works explored universal themes of memory, identity, reflection, and the shared human experience.

Broad cultural programme anchors Sharjah's presence in Europe

The "Echoes" evening represents just one highlight of Sharjah’s extensive cultural showcase at the book fair. Organised by the emirate, the comprehensive lineup includes dozens of seminars, poetry readings, and interactive workshops designed to strengthen the Emirati and Arab cultural presence across Europe. Through these targeted initiatives, Sharjah continues to build lasting relationships and foster vibrant literary exchanges with Polish cultural and educational institutions.
