UAE, Armenia discuss strategic cooperation at Dubai Airshow

Sharjah 24 – WAM: His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, met with Suren Papikyan, Minister of Defence of Armenia, on the sidelines of the Dubai Airshow 2025, held at Dubai World Central until 21 November.

Strengthening bilateral defence relations

During the meeting, Sheikh Hamdan welcomed Minister Papikyan and highlighted the strong ties between the UAE and Armenia. He emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation in defence, technology, development, and future industries to support the strategic goals of both nations.

Sheikh Hamdan stressed that defence collaboration is a cornerstone for promoting global peace and stability, noting that security is essential for economic growth, investment, and progress across all sectors.

Armenia’s commitment to cooperation

Minister Papikyan expressed Armenia’s appreciation for the UAE and highlighted his country’s eagerness to explore further collaboration, building on expanding economic, cultural, and technological ties. He also praised the Dubai Airshow as a global platform for defence leaders and aerospace experts to connect, share expertise, and discover the latest technological trends.

Focus on advanced defence capabilities

The discussions covered enhancing conventional and future defence capabilities, implementing modern systems, and training personnel to use advanced technologies effectively. Both sides also reviewed regional and international developments and emphasized efforts to promote peace and stability, along with other shared interests.

The meeting was attended by Mohamed bin Mubarak bin Fadhel Al Mazrouei, Minister of State for Defence Affairs; Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications; and Major General Khalifa Rashid Al Hamli, Director of the Office of the Minister of Defence.
