Abdullah bin Zayed, US Secretary of State discuss strategic ties

Sharjah 24 – WAM: His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a telephone call with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to discuss ways to strengthen the strategic partnership between the UAE and the United States in support of their shared interests.

Expanding bilateral cooperation

Both sides reviewed opportunities to broaden cooperation across economic, commercial, and scientific sectors, as well as in artificial intelligence, advanced technology, and other fields that align with the development priorities of both nations.

Reinforcing the UAE-US strategic partnership

Sheikh Abdullah affirmed the strength of the UAE-US relationship and the two countries’ commitment to continued constructive collaboration aimed at achieving sustainable development and supporting long-term progress and prosperity.

Regional developments and Sudan crisis

The two officials discussed key regional developments, including the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Sudan. Sheikh Abdullah underscored the importance of activating the provisions of the Quad statement—issued last September by the UAE, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the United States—to help end the conflict and achieve a peaceful resolution.

Humanitarian situation in Gaza

The call also addressed efforts to ease the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.

Appreciation for US efforts in Middle East stability

Sheikh Abdullah expressed his appreciation for the United States’ efforts to enhance security and stability in the Middle East and its commitment to building a sustainable peace that enables prosperity and development for the region’s populations.
