The only goal of the match came in the 69th minute when Cameroonian midfielder Frank Anguissa headed in to give Napoli the lead, after Lecce goalkeeper Vanija Milinković-Savić had earlier saved a penalty in the 55th minute. With this result, Napoli sit on 21 points, three clear of Roma, who will host Parma later today.
Meanwhile, Lecce experienced their fifth defeat of the season, staying in 16th place with six points.
For the second consecutive match, AC Milan dropped valuable points, drawing 1–1 with Atalanta away from home. Milan had taken an early lead in the 4th minute through midfielder Samuele Ricci, but Atalanta equalised in the 35th minute via Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman.
The result comes after Milan’s 2–2 draw against Pisa last week, leaving the Rossoneri with 18 points in third place, three behind Napoli and level with Roma, who still have a game in hand. Inter Milan, on 15 points, hosts Fiorentina on Wednesday and could narrow the gap.
Atalanta, who remain unbeaten this season, now have 13 points and sit seventh after their fifth consecutive draw across all competitions.
