In an official statement, Napoli said: “After the injury suffered during the Inter match, Kevin De Bruyne underwent tests at Pineta Grande Hospital, which revealed a severe tear in the biceps femoris muscle of his right thigh. The player has already begun his rehabilitation program.”
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport and Sky Sport Italia, De Bruyne is unlikely to return before the end of the year, meaning Napoli coach Antonio Conte will be without his key midfielder for approximately two months.
The injury is a major blow for Napoli, as De Bruyne has been outstanding since joining the defending Serie A champions this summer on a free transfer after leaving Manchester City. He has scored four goals in eight Serie A appearances and provided two assists in the UEFA Champions League.
