The case emerged after a complaint was filed through the Public Prosecution’s digital platform “My Safe Society”, in which a victim reported that he had been kidnapped, indecently assaulted, and filmed while bound.
Acting under the directives of Dr Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, UAE Attorney General, the Public Prosecution immediately launched a full investigation, collected evidence, and instructed the Federal Judicial Enforcement Office to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. Authorities also seized tools and equipment used to commit the crimes.
Investigations revealed that the defendants lured the victim to one of their residences over a financial dispute, where they assaulted, detained, and humiliated him for a week. They forced him to sign debt documents, filmed him naked, and later shared the footage on social media to extort money from his family.
Authorities confiscated the vehicle and mobile phones used in the crime, which contained incriminating recordings proving the gang’s organised and premeditated activities. The evidence underscored the gravity of their offences, which were deemed a direct threat to national security.
The defendants now face charges punishable by death or life imprisonment, given the seriousness of their crimes and their organised nature. The case has been formally referred to the competent court for prosecution.
Dr Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, the UAE Attorney General, reaffirmed that protecting the nation’s security and stability is a top priority that allows for no leniency. He stressed the Public Prosecution’s firm commitment to upholding the rule of law, safeguarding lives and property, and ensuring that all perpetrators of crimes threatening national security or public peace are brought to justice.
