Australian Prime Minister visits Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

His Excellency Anthony Albanese was accompanied by his wife, Jody Haydon; His Excellency Fahad Obaid Al Taffaq, UAE Ambassador to Australia; Ridwan Joudat, Australian Ambassador to the UAE; and a number of senior Australian officials.

Message of tolerance and coexistence

His Excellency and the accompanying delegation, accompanied by His Excellency Dr Yousef Al Obaidli, Director General of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre, toured the mosque's halls and external corridors. His Excellency briefed them on the history of the mosque's establishment and its cultural message of coexistence, tolerance, and openness to others, emanating from the legacy and values of the Founding Father. He also highlighted the significant role played by the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre in promoting tolerant Islamic culture and promoting cultural communication between cultures and peoples around the world.

Beautiful aesthetics

Rawda Ibrahim Al Marzouqi, Cultural Tours Specialist, provided His Excellency and the accompanying delegation with a detailed explanation of the mosque's aesthetics and the exquisite Islamic architecture clearly evident in every corner of the building. She also highlighted the finest Islamic civilisation has produced throughout the ages, including diverse arts and architectural designs, which converge in the mosque's design, reflecting the beauty of cultural harmony and accord in a single creative work.

His Excellency and the accompanying delegation also visited the tomb of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, recalling his legacy and wise approach, which established the foundations of a culture of tolerance, coexistence, and peace among the peoples of the world.

The guest was presented with a souvenir reflecting the mosque's aesthetics, a compass whose design was inspired by its chandeliers, and a copy of the book "Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque: A Stream of Peace," which highlights the mosque's unique architecture and takes readers on a photographic journey to discover the aesthetics of the mosque's architectural art through a collection of photos that won the "Spaces of Light" award.
