Call to action on International Day of Peace
In a statement marking the International Day of Peace, observed annually on 21st September, Mohamed bin Ahmed Al Yammahi, President of the Arab Parliament, stressed the urgency of intensified efforts to achieve a ceasefire, end violence, and establish peace across the Arab region. He stated that such peace is unattainable without ending the Israeli occupation of Arab territories and establishing an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Accountability and protection for Palestinians
Al Yammahi called for holding the occupying power accountable for acts of genocide committed against the Palestinian people and urged the international community to provide them with protection. He underscored the centrality of the Palestinian cause in achieving regional and global stability.
Need for reform in global peace institutions
He further emphasized that the current international peace and security system needs genuine reform to fulfill its intended role effectively, suggesting that more robust and honest efforts are necessary.

The Arab Parliament reiterated its full support for Arab, regional, and international efforts aimed at fostering a culture of peace. It also reaffirmed its dedication to promoting values of tolerance, dialogue, citizenship, and mutual respect, while rejecting all forms of violence, hatred, and extremism.
