Ongoing humanitarian efforts and total evacuations
To date, the UAE has evacuated a total of 2,904 patients and their families for medical treatment since the beginning of the humanitarian crisis. These efforts are part of a broader directive from President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to provide medical care to 1,000 wounded Palestinian children and 1,000 cancer patients in UAE hospitals.
UAE’s commitment to alleviating humanitarian suffering
These evacuation missions underscore the UAE’s steadfast commitment to easing the suffering of civilians in Gaza by offering critical medical care and responding rapidly to emergencies. The UAE continues to demonstrate leadership in humanitarian response during complex crises.
Statement from UAE Aid Agency leadership
Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development and International Organisations and Vice Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency, reaffirmed the UAE’s ongoing dedication to transporting patients and injured civilians swiftly from Gaza. He highlighted the country’s consistent support for the Palestinian people and its broader efforts to promote recovery and stability amid conflict.
Coordination with international organisations
Al Shamsi noted the UAE’s close coordination with international bodies, particularly the WHO, to ensure the urgent transfer of critical cases to UAE hospitals. He stressed that patients and their families receive comprehensive healthcare, education, and cultural support at Emirates Humanitarian City (EHC).
Medical support via UAE field and naval hospitals
In addition to in-country care, the UAE continues to deliver essential medical services through its hospital ship stationed off the coast of El Arish, Egypt, and the field hospital established in southern Gaza, both of which are fully operational and stocked with medical supplies.
Continued humanitarian leadership amid crisis
As part of its urgent response plan, the UAE is actively working with United Nations agencies and global partners to lessen the catastrophic impacts of the ongoing conflict in Gaza and to provide sustained humanitarian assistance to those in need across the Strip.
