Sharjah 24 – WAM: Representing President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, took part in the BRICS Leaders Virtual Summit. The summit was convened by Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, President of the Federative Republic of Brazil.

During the session, Sheikh Khaled delivered the UAE’s official address, extending greetings from President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyanto all participating nations and expressing sincere wishes for the summit’s success.

UAE commends Brazil’s BRICS leadership

In his remarks, Sheikh Khaled praised Brazil’s effective leadership of the BRICS group since the beginning of its 2025 term. He also acknowledged the achievements of the 17th BRICS Summit, which was held in Rio de Janeiro on July 6–7, describing the outcomes as significant and reflective of the group’s growing influence on the global stage.

BRICS as a platform for collective development

Sheikh Khaled underscored the importance of BRICS as a key international platform for collaborative development. He noted that the UAE strongly supports initiatives that align with global prosperity, and emphasized the country's dedication to building robust economic and trade partnerships. These efforts, he explained, are designed to promote sustainable development and shared growth among all nations.

Key summit focus areas

The summit provided a forum to explore strategies for strengthening cooperation and facilitating foreign trade among member states. Leaders discussed opportunities for deeper economic integration through joint projects in infrastructure, energy, and digital transformation. There was a shared commitment to promoting sustainable development in emerging economies and advancing political dialogue on global economic issues, particularly those affecting the international trading system.

High-level participation at the summit

The virtual summit was attended by a number of world leaders and senior officials. Among those present were President Xi Jinping of China, President Vladimir Putin of Russia, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt, and President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa. Also in attendance were President Masoud Pezeshkian of Iran, President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia, Indian Minister of External Affairs Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, and Ethiopian Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Gedion Timothewos.

The participation of these leaders highlighted the summit’s significance as a platform for advancing shared goals and shaping the future of global cooperation.
