ntilaqah’ programme
Mariam Ismail, Director of the Women’s Protection Centre, explained: “When the centre was first established, its main goal was to provide shelter for abused women. Over time, its objectives evolved to focus on empowerment, adopting the motto ‘From Protection to Empowerment’ through the launch of the Intilaqah (New Beginning) programme.”
The Intilaqah programme has become a cornerstone of the centre’s work, aiming to empower women aged 18 to 60 across a range of fields that help them build their path in society, live responsibly and with dignity, and rely on themselves. It also seeks to raise women’s self-esteem and confidence by developing their skills and capabilities, while providing opportunities and tools tailored to their interests. A team of specialists deliver the programme in a structured and organised way, guiding women towards their goals.
The programme targets women who have lost a breadwinner, those abandoned, or women facing challenges that prevent them from continuing their lives normally. It offers a comprehensive package of support, including opportunities for social participation and integration, enhancing financial independence through employment or entrepreneurial projects, professional training to strengthen practical skills, psychological support to foster reassurance and confidence, and legal awareness to ensure women understand and defend their rights with the backing of the community.
