Despite fielding only five athletes, the UAE finished fourth overall, securing one gold, two silver, and one bronze medal. The championship served as vital preparation for the upcoming Asian Youth Games in October, highlighting the growing popularity of combat sports across the region.
Omar Al Raeesi led the UAE’s medal haul, capturing gold in the under-18 Traditional MMA men's -60kg category. Silver medals went to Abdulla Al Darmaki in the under-18 Modern MMA men's -50kg, and Omar Al Marzuqi in the under-18 Traditional MMA men's -65kg. Ahmad Abdulraheem earned bronze in the under-18 Modern MMA men's -65kg division.
Mohammed Jassim Al Hosani, member of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Committee, praised the young athletes’ efforts, calling the performance a “fantastic moment for the UAE.” He noted that the results reflect the country’s growing capabilities in mixed martial arts and the importance of investing in grassroots talent development.
Al Hosani emphasised that the AMMA Championship provides a solid platform to build momentum ahead of larger international competitions. “This success motivates us to push even harder for future continental events and to aim for podium finishes at the Asian Youth Games,” he concluded.
