UAE National Basketball Team faces Syria in Asian Cup qualifiers

Sharjah 24: The International Basketball Federation's (FIBA) regional office for Asia has announced that the UAE national basketball team will face Syria in the third window of the 2025 Asian Cup qualifiers in Doha, Qatar.

Preparation for upcoming matches

The UAE team is currently training in Serbia as part of its preparations for the match against Syria on February 21 in Doha, followed by a game against Lebanon in Beirut on February 24. The team's training camp will conclude on February 17, after which they will return to the UAE before traveling to Qatar for their qualifier.

Group standing and qualification

The UAE team currently ranks third in Group Six with 5 points, tied with Syria. Lebanon leads the group with 8 points, while Bahrain holds 6 points. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the Asian finals, while the third-placed teams will compete in a play-off for a chance to advance.

FIBA Asia Cup details

The 2025 FIBA Asia Cup will be hosted in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from August 5 to 17. The draw for the tournament will take place on April 8. The FIBA Asia Cup is held every four years, featuring 16 teams from Asia and Oceania.
