Sharjah 24 – WAM: Austrian Foreign Minister Beata Meinl-Reisinger has publicly rejected Israel’s decision to expand its military operations in the Gaza Strip.

Call to Prioritise Humanitarian relief over escalation

In her statement, Meinl-Reisinger emphasised that rather than pursuing further military escalation, the focus must shift toward easing the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza and securing the release of remaining hostages.

Reaffirming Austria’s position on Gaza

She reaffirmed Austria’s clear stance on Gaza, stressing that any unilateral change to the territorial or demographic status of the Strip is unacceptable. Her remarks referenced international law and UN Security Council Resolution 2735 (2024), which Austria supports.

Urging ceasefire and humanitarian access

The Austrian foreign minister called for an immediate ceasefire, the unconditional release of all hostages, and unrestricted humanitarian aid to facilitate a lasting end to hostilities.
