Wahida Abdulaziz, Chairperson of the Friends of Arthritis Patients Association, honoured the “arthritis-friendly schools” on Thursday during a ceremony held at the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah.

She explained that the third edition of the “Arthritis-Friendly Schools Programme” aimed to reach the widest possible segment of students, as well as administrative and teaching staff. The programme’s core goal, she noted, is to raise awareness of arthritis and its prevention and to educate everyone working within schools while also aligning school initiatives with those of the association.

Speaking to “Sharjah 24,” Abdulaziz said that 30 schools participated in this edition, reaching over 11,000 students. She noted that, for the first time, schools from Dubai and Fujairah joined the initiative. The participating schools competed in innovation and health awareness, with students acting as ambassadors for the association within their schools and families.

She extended her thanks to the strategic partners who contributed to the success of the programme—namely, the Ministry of Education and the Sharjah Private Education Authority.
