Sharjah24: On the sidelines of the biannual Watch and Jewellery Middle East Show in Sharjah, Edoardo Napoli, Consul General of Italy in Dubai, sparked light on Italian jewellery industry and the strong bilateral relations between Italy and the UAE—particularly with the Emirate of Sharjah.
The Consul General expressed his happiness and honoured attendance at the prestigious event, noting the importance of the Italian pavilion, which he described as the largest in the exhibition. He revealed that nearly 50 Italian small and medium enterprises were participating, occupying around 700 square feet of exhibition space.
Napoli emphasised that jewellery remains Italy’s leading export category to the UAE, with exports having reached over one billion euros. He stated that Italy currently holds 5% of the UAE market in this sector, positioning it as the third-largest exporter of jewellery globally and the top exporter in Europe.
He also underlined the broader significance of Italian-UAE relations, pointing out that the collaboration extends beyond trade to include strong cultural engagement. “Trade and culture are deeply interconnected,” he said, adding that both nations believe culture serves as an engine for growth and innovation.
The Consul General observed a growing demand and appreciation in the UAE for products made in Italy, attributing this interest to the exceptional Italian craftsmanship, which he said is “rooted in centuries of history and heritage”.
Napoli concluded by praising the ongoing cooperation between Italy and Sharjah, describing it as a model of successful exchange in both the economic and cultural domains.
