The Russian Ministry of Defence stated that the exchange was carried out in accordance with agreements made between the two sides in Istanbul on May 16. Over the weekend, both parties successfully completed the transfer of a total of 1,000 individuals each.
The exchange took place as international pressure mounts for a ceasefire and renewed diplomatic efforts to resolve the ongoing war.
